Technologies at Our Dental Clinic

At Westlake Dental, we use technology to help us plan efficient and effective treatments, and to make sure your dental appointments run smoothly. Since we can display digital scans and x-rays on the monitors in our treatment rooms, we can show you any emerging oral health issues and walk you through our treatment plan.

We're on a mission to provide patients with efficient dental care, and ensure we fully inform them about their oral health. Dental technology helps us accomplish this goal.

Digital X-Rays

Instead of traditional photographic x-ray film, digital x-rays use digital sensors to produce highly detailed computer images of your teeth and gums, in addition to other oral structures and conditions. This allows your dentist to check parts of your mouth that are not visible to the naked eye.

Panoramic X-Rays

With panoramic x-rays, your dentist can create a single flat image of your entire mouth. This image represents your teeth, temporomandibular joints (TMJ), upper and lower jaws, and sinus and nasal structures. These types of x-rays are often used to help plan treatments for extractions, implants, braces and dentures.

Dental Lasers

Lasers (extremely focused light beams) can be used in a range of soft and hard tissue procedures. With lasers, our dentists can complete dental procedures with fewer medical interventions and less pain. At Westlake Dental, our dentists use lasers to remove decayed or overgrown tissue, reshape gums, whiten teeth or harden dental restorations.

TRIOS Intraoral Scanner

Using the TRIOS scanner, we can create digital dental impressions, an ideal alternative to taking traditional dental impressions, which can be time-consuming and messy. With an optical scanning wand, your dentist can take a comprehensive 3D image of the hard and soft tissues of your mouth, and display it on a monitor within minutes.

Oral Cancer Screening Device

The VELscope® oral cancer screening device allows your dentist to find abnormalities and diseases in the mouth, such as cancerous and pre-cancerous lesions. Using fluorescence visualization technology, the screening can be performed in your dentist’s office in about two minutes, during routine exams and under normal lighting conditions.

Cone Beam Cat Scan

Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a special type of x-ray machine that produces 3D images of dental structures, soft tissues, nerve paths and bone in the craniofacial region in a single scan. Images obtained with CBCT allow us to plan treatments more precisely, including analyzing your airway for snoring and sleep apnea treatment.

CEREC Same-Day Restorations

CEREC (Chairside Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) is a system that allows for the fabrication and placement of precisely fitted dental restorations like dental crowns and bridges. With this technology, we can complete dental procedures from start to finish on the same day. Additionally, traditional putty impressions or temporary crowns are not needed, and you won't need to return for multiple appointments.
